Imagine a household where a trip to the market involves just one item: salt. Everything else, from vegetables to fruits to creamy dairy products, and even the feed for cattle and fertilizers for plants, is produced right at home. Sounds like a dream, doesn't it? But Kallappa has turned this into reality.

Kallappa Shegunasi is a humble farmer from Bagalakot district. For him, work is worship in true essence. His home itself is named after the title of a very famous poem by, Jnanapitha awardee poet  Kuvempu- “Negilayogi”. “Negilu” means “Plough” in Kannada and “Yogi” translates to “mystic.” Kallappa is an embodiment of Negilayogi, as he believes in work being the highest form of devotion.

He grows various crops from sugarcane, millets, turmeric, maize, garlic, banana, watermelon, onion, garlic, guava, coriander, chilli and cauliflower, among others. His surplus harvest gains him profit after meeting the needs of his household.

Kallappa has got his farm-to-table factory buzzing right there, as he is an expert in formulating his fertilizers, pesticides, sprays, and weedicides mostly using his farm leftovers, dairy products like ghee and milk, animal waste, and Jaggery as per his composition. With other farmers' swearing by the effectiveness of his organic fertilizers, Kallappa has found himself another income stream.

Aside from his fertilizer venture, Kallappa has diversified his offerings extensively! Kallappa has got a whole lineup of products from the sweetness of the jaggery to red hot chilli powder. He also sells millet, ragi, turmeric powder, oil, a wide variety of grains and his very special Kalmeshwar Energy Booster.
